Freezer Fruit Cocktail Mix

Whether you make this Fruit Cocktail Mix all at once in one big batch, or do it by saving uneaten fruits before they go bad a little at a time, You will love having a constant bag of this in your freezer!
Besides freezing the fruit mix, which I'll give you my tips for, I've got a quick short cut for a fantastic fruit cocktail too!

To Make a Large Master Mix: If you Want to make one big batch you can really play around with the ingredients and quantity, and I recommend going to the grocery store and asking the produce section of they have any fruits that they are getting rid of of look for scratch and dent stores with great mark downs, as well as great in season fruits at great prices. Grapes, Pineapple, Peaches, Strawberries, Oranges, and more..

Make it as you go: If you want to build it a little at a time, year round, like I do: Every so often you end up with 1 or 2 pieces of fruit that has gone uneaten but they are now past their prime and no one in the family seems willing to eat them. Or if I find a great mark down bag or oranges or berries:   Keep a gallon sized freezer bag handy and toss in those fruits, (but see my guide below for flash freezing first) for a last minute frozen fruit salad or for smoothies.

In todays bag I pulled from the freezer I have Mandarin oranges, Pineapple chunks and raspberries. But apples, mangos, kiwis, peaches, watermelons cantelopes, grapes, blueberries are all good too! You never know what I have in my freezer fruit bag!

Flash Freeze Your Mix:
I prefer to flash freeze my fruit pieces first. This is when you lay the fruit pieces on baking sheets and put into freezer till each piece is individually frozen. Then place frozen fruit into a freezer container or bag and they won't clump together! You can grab out exactly the amount you need!

fruit cocktail salad:
Makes 4 servings

Partially thaw 2 cups Frozen fruit mix in a serving bowl.
Pour  1- 1 1/2 cups gingerale or lemon-lime soda over the fruit mix.

Jan's Tip: The Gingerale or Lemon-Lime Soda is a quick shortcut for a traditional sugar syrup that comes with canned fruit.

How do you use your frozen fruit?
